UPDATE: Semi Vs. Vehicle On SR 15, North Of Leesburg
LEESBURG — Police and fire responded to a car vs semi accident in front of 7509 N. SR 15 around 9:10 a.m. today, Dec. 24.
The call originally came through as just property damage, but upon arrival it was discovered the driver of a small passenger car had some minor injuries.
The passenger car, driven by Jacob Cantu, 23, Milford, was traveling north on SR 15 when the driver began to go off the road on the right. The driver overcorrected, according to Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department officers, striking a semi traveling south on SR 15. The semi was driven by Rhoda Yeager, 44, Cabool, Mo.
The impact caused the passenger vehicle to spin, coming to a stop in a ditch on the right side of the road, facing south. It also caused diesel fuel from the semi to spill all over the roadway.
Debris from the passenger vehicle was strewn across the road. The driver was transported to Kosciusko Community hospital in Warsaw by Lutheran EMS.
Plain Township Fire and KCSD were also on scene to assist with cleanup. Traffic was stopped in both directions while the crews worked to clear the road of debris.
Damage was estimated up to $25,000.
