Lawrence E. Schutz
Lawrence E. Schutz, 84, of Bremen, passed away at 6 a.m. Friday, Dec. 25, 2015, in Signature Health Care of Bremen.
Lawrence was born on Aug. 25, 1931, the son of the late John and Florence (Zeiger) Schutz.
On May 24, 1952, he married Joan Wise.
He is survived by his loving wife, Joan; four sons: Patrick (Sharon) Schutz of Bremen; Allen (Teresa) Schutz of Melvindale, Mich.; Tim (Kim) Schutz of Bremen; and Keith (Sande) Schutz of LaPaz; 18 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers: Bernie (Joyce) Schutz of Lakeville; Francis (Mary) Schutz of Bremen; daughter-in-law, Mel Schutz of Bremen and sister-in-law, Marge Schutz of Bremen.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son, David Schutz; sister, Rose Marie Detweiler; and brother, John Schutz, Jr.
Lawrence proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Army. He was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church, Bremen. He will be remembered for his love of fishing, mushroom hunting and camping. He was an avid painter and artist and enjoyed making crafts.
A Mass of Christian will take place at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29, in St. Dominic Catholic Church, 803 W. Bike St., Bremen. There will be two hours of calling in the church before the Mass from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Rev. Bob Lengerich will officiate. Burial will follow in Bremen Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to St. Dominic Catholic Church.
