Stichter Helps Titans To Hoops Victory
SOUTH BEND – On the shoulders of a career night from Jeremy Jones, the Indiana University South Bend men’s basketball team cruised to a 118-81 victory over the Cougars of the University of Cincinnati-Clermont on Tuesday.
Jones, a sophomore from Fort Wayne, poured in 23 of his game-high 30 in the second half with five three point baskets.
Riley Stichter, a Wawasee High School product, grabbed two offensive boards in the same possession to put IU South Bend in front 20-7 eight minutes into the contest. Stichter, a senior, finished the first half with 10 points and played just eight minutes in the second half scoring 14 for the game.
With 4:31 to play in the half, the Cougars cut the Titan lead to eight points with a layup from Zaire Henry. IU South Bend went on to finish the half on an 11-2 run to take a 50-33 advantage into the break.
The IU South Bend offense exploded in the second half for 68 points and led by as many as 42 points.
Jones put the exclamation mark on the win taking a missed layup and slamming it home on the dunk-tip with 30 seconds left in the game.
Javonte Young, a senior from Mishawaka, finished with 18 while freshman Myluv Sutton added 17 in the win.
The Titans, now 11-4 on the season, continue Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference action on Tuesday when they welcome Calumet College of St. Joseph. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
