Local Haunting To Premiere On National Television
Initially after moving into the home, things were pretty calm for Patterson and her family. However the usual occurrences of day to day life and settling into a home were quickly disrupted with something more sinister.
According to Patterson, strange things began happening in the home that she could not rationalize. She began to smell cologne and see dark figures lurking in her residence. Shower curtains would open on their own as well as doors. Lights would turn on or off on their own and objects were both moved and thrown in the house seemingly on their own volition.
Eventually, the events became more personal for Patterson and her family. Patterson reported she soon began to experience physical trauma as well.
“We had taken the wall next to the stairs going to the basement out. I had finished doing laundry and was headed back upstairs when my leg was grabbed. I could feel the cold fingers wrap around my leg. It scared the hell out of me,” stated Patterson.
Things continued to escalate for Patterson. One day while going down the stairs to finish her laundry, she felt two hands pressed against her back. These hands shoved her down the steps, causing her to pull several muscles in her arm when she grabbed on to the banister to stop her fall.
“All I wanted to do was go finish the laundry. I rarely went into the basement after those encounters,” she stated.
Though all these events were terrifying, it was when her children began to be affected that Patterson truly began to worry. The children reportedly were found one day, sitting alone reading to a wall.
“When asked, the kids always said they were talking/reading to ‘nothing’,” noted Patterson. “Which creeped us out even more.”
Filled with fear following the numerous strange events going on in her home, Patterson turned to a local paranormal investigation team for help and answers.
“All these events had me get a hold of the Fort Wayne Shadow Chasers. The ladies came and investigated my house. They got over 20 voice recordings as evidence.”
After incidents began affecting her children, Patterson decided it was time to leave the home. She left the residence in 2013.
According to Patterson, investigators with Fort Wayne Shadow Chasers were later contacted by producers of “A Haunting” looking for any info they could supply on clients who had the most experiences. Patterson’s story sparked the producers’s interest and she was soon contacted by the show to film an episode portraying what had occurred within the residence.
After several phone interviews, the producers and crew flew to Indiana, where they interviewed both Patterson and those closest to her. An episode was filmed with actors casted to portray Patterson and her family. The episode, titled, “Eternal Grief,” will air at 10 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 17, on Destination America.
