MILFORD — Programs and events at Milford Public Library.
Adult Reading Club
Adults ages 18 and up can register to participate in our annual Adult Reading Program. This year’s theme is, “Exercise Your Mind. Read!” Stop by the adult circulation desk for program information. For each book you read, or book-on-compact disk you listen to, you can put your name in for a chance to win some fabulous prizes.
The books can be from the library or ones you have purchased privately, but read material new to you. Each Friday, the library will draw a name out of the bowl, and that person will win a prize. Prizes are donated by local sponsors and will be displayed prior to being given away. After a name has been selected, the remaining names in the bowl will be removed, and we will start fresh to add names for the next week’s drawing. Names we have removed will be kept, and on the last day of the program, we will select one person from all participants to be a grand prize winner.
We will also have some programs for adults during the winter months. Watch the library website, Facebook page and local newspapers for more information. The Adult Reading Program ends on March 31. We are going to read all winter anyway, why not read to win? Reading keeps the mind in great shape, so sign up to participate today.
E-Book Workshop
Need help downloading books to your e-reader or just need a refresher? Come to the library from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 7, to get some help from Miss Malea and Miss Shari. We will have a kindle and nook on hand to show you how you can download a book. Bring your devices and your questions.
Milford Public Library has OverDrive available from our website. There are thousands of titles to choose from including mysteries, romance, historical, suspense and nonfiction. There are eBooks for all ages.
Knitting Club
Knitting Club meets from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8, in the teen area of the library. Bring a knitting project and get help from experienced knitters. Learn how to knit or continue working on a current project.
LEGO Crew
LEGO Crew is scheduled from 10:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, Jan. 9. On the second Saturday of each month, we get together and let our imaginations run wild. This program is for children age 5 and up. We provide the LEGO’s, you provide your creativity and imagination. Call us if you have any questions at (574) 658-4312.
Adult Craft Night
Local crafter, Kelley Engle, will show us how to make a snowman craft. Join us on Monday, Jan. 11, and enjoy a relaxing, informal evening with other people who enjoy making crafts. The cost for this craft is $16 and is due when you register.
The sign-up sheet is available at the adult circulation desk. If you would like to participate, we need to know by 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8, so the correct amount of materials can be purchased. An example of the snowman is on display now at the adult circulation desk and he’s a real cutie. Call (574) 658-4312 to register, or stop by the library.
Dial-A-Story
Each week call the library’s Dial-A-Story for a quick little story. The story changes weekly. Call (574) 658-9540 this week to hear “Mr. and Mrs. Vinegar.”
