Firefighters Dive Into Icy Water To Save Dog
CLINTON, UTAH — Firefighters in Utah got a special thank you from a dog they rescued after it fell through the ice on a frozen pond.
The dog’s name is Tucker. He fell through the ice while he was being walked around on Monday.
Tucker’s owner first tried to use a rope to get Tucker out, but wound up calling 911 when the attempt failed.
A nearby fire station was equipped to deal with the situation, and a diver was able to rescue Tucker.
“Be aware of your animals. Be their advocate. They’re not gonna know that the ice is dangerous so if you’re gonna bring them around those areas – make sure they’re on leash,” said United Fire Authority Capt. Nathan Bogenschutz
The firefighters say you should never attempt a rescue such as this yourself. They suggest calling 911 instead.
