Semitractor Driver Falls Asleep While Driving
MARSHALL COUNTY — The Marshall County Central Dispatch Center received a 911 call at approximately 2:55 a.m. today, Jan. 6, in reference to an overturned semi-tractor and trailer. The collision occurred in the south bound lanes of US 31 near the intersection with Veterans Parkway.
Thirty four year old Zachrey J. Hart of Kansas admitted to falling asleep while driving the semitractor and trailer south bound on US 31. Based on evidence at the scene, the semitractor and trailer left the south bound lanes of US 31 and traveled into the grass center median. The semitractor and trailer then traveled back up onto the south bound lanes of US 31 and overturned onto its driver’s side.
The south bound lanes of US 31 were closed for several hours during roadway clean up. Traffic was diverted around the scene of the collision. The driver only sustained minor injuries during the collision. No other vehicles were involved.
