Powerball Jackpot Increases To $1.4 Billion As Ticket Sales Surge
INDIANAPOLIS — Many Hoosiers want a crack at the largest Powerball jackpot in history.
Monday, the prize got even bigger: it’s now $1.4 billion. The number is so large, the Hoosier Lottery’s sign doesn’t even have room for the numbers. It just reads 999 with the word “Million” below it. Signs at local convenience stores are being crossed out with the word “billion” written in place of million. With the fast pace of purchases, clerks can’t keep up. The number at the Dairlyland on US-40 in Plainfield still said $1.3 billion.
Plenty of money for some.
“It’s worth a shot,” said Tim Chaney of Greencastle. “I mean, you spend $3 on a coke and a candy bar anymore, so might as will take a shot at $1.3 billion. Can make a lot of people happy if you win.”
The next Powerball drawing is set for Wednesday.
