Man Arrested For Giving A Minor Marijuana
WARSAW — Israel Perez, 36, 365 W. Baker St., Warsaw, was arrested Saturday evening, Jan. 16, on charges of dealing marijuana to a minor, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, both level 5 felonies; and possession of marijuana, class B misdemeanor.
Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Deputy Shane Bucher went to a residence on Aug. 23, to locate a runaway juvenile. As Bucher was approaching the apartment an adult female exited and was asked if she knew the male juvenile he was attempting to locate. Stating that she did, but would have to ask her daughter if he was inside. While at the residence, Bucher detected an odor of burning marijuana coming from the apartment, through an open window and door. The adult stated she was aware of the odor.
Inside the residence, Bucher found two adult males, including Perez and three female juveniles. When asked who had the marijuana, Perez went to a bedroom and returned carrying a clear plastic bag containing a green leafy material. He also handed Bucher a glass pipe containing burnt residue. Perez told Bucher he brought the marijuana for everyone to smoke and was aware all three females were juveniles. One of the juveniles also gave Bucher a bag of marijuana she had in her possession.
A field test resulted in a positive test for marijuana which weighed 2 1/5 grams.
