Richard A. Wood
Richard A. Wood, 77, Akron, passed at 5:36 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15, 2016, at his residence.
He was born on Aug. 4, 1938, in Rochester, to Lester A. and Edna M. (Blodgett) Wood. He was married on Sept. 2, 1959, in Akron, to Mary Frances Arthur, she survives.
He was a mechanic at Arthur’s Service and owner at Ray’s Service Station in Akron. Richard was a 1956 graduate of Akron High School. He served his country in the United State Air Force. He enjoyed going to the round table at the restaurant to have coffee and talk about the day’s news. He also was a very dedicated Chicago Cubs fan.
He is survived by his wife: Mary Frances Wood, Akron; daughter; Joyce Mikesell, Athens; son: Raymond (Jill) Wood, Akron; grandchildren: Brianne; Dylan; and Shane; sisters: Helen (Dick) Clark, New Haven; Mary Alice (Frank) Roberts, Prescott, Ariz. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20, at the funeral home, where military rites will be performed by the Fulton County Honor Guard. Burial will be at a later date at Akron Cemetery, Akron.
