Undefeated Tigers No. 7 In IBCA Poll
The Warsaw boys basketball team is off to the program’s best start in 24 years.
The Tigers, one of just five undefeated boys hoops squads in the state, sit at No. 7 in this week’s coaches poll.
Warsaw improved its season mark to 12-0 with a pair of home wins over conference foe Goshen (55-41) on Friday night and a strong Fort Wayne Snider squad, by a 53-46 final, on Saturday night. The 12-0 mark is the best start for a Warsaw team since the 1991-92 team went 13-0 to begin its season.
Coach Doug Ogle’s undefeated team will host Mishawaka Marian on Tuesday night and then play at league foe Concord on Friday night. The Tigers then play at Fort Wayne Northrop on Saturday night before a huge conference game at NorthWood on Jan. 29. Warsaw and the Panthers, who are 12-1 overall, are the lone two undefeated teams remaining in Northern Lakes Conference play. Both are currently 3-0 in the NLC.
Marian, which is one of the teams receiving votes in this week’s coaches’ poll, is 11-2.
Warsaw is joined statewide in the unbeaten ranks by Angola (13-0), Griffith (13-0), Shenandoah (12-0) and Tipton (12-0).
New Albany is the No. 1 ranked team in this week’s poll.
