Valley Girls No. 19 In Coaches’ Hoops Poll
The Tippecanoe Valley girls basketball team checks in at No. 19 in this week’s coaches’ poll after their biggest win of the season.
The Vikings, who knocked off Class 2-A No. 1 and previously undefeated Rochester Saturday night, is 16-1 on the season. Valley, whose lone loss was to Westfield (who is ranked No. 9), leads the Three Rivers Conference at 6-0 after its huge league win at Rochester.
Valley, which was the Class 3-A state runner-up last season, has five games remaining before sectional action. The Vikings, who will host a Class 3-A sectional this year, play at Peru Tuesday, at Southwood on Jan. 23 and at Manchester on Jan. 28 to conclude TRC play. Valley also has a makeup game this Thursday night at NorthWood and a home game with Wawasee on Jan. 26.
Columbus North sits at No. 1 in the IBCA poll this week.
Penn, sporting a 20-1 mark, is the highest ranked area team at No. 4. Coach Kristin Ulrich’s team has a key conference game at South Bend St. Joseph this Thursday night. The Indians, who are 16-1, sit at No. 10 in this week’s poll.
Oregon-Davis, which is 16-2 on the season, is No. 15.
The trio of Rochester, Northridge and Whitko are all among the teams receiving votes in this week’s poll.
