Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann Visits Warsaw
WARSAW — The Ivy Tech Orthopedic and Advanced Manufacturing Training Center hosted a number of dignitaries Friday afternoon, Jan. 22, for the Northern Indiana Mayors’ Roundtable.
Among those gathered were Indiana Lieutenant Governor Sue Ellspermann, 12 local mayors and representatives from entities like the Office of Community Rural Affairs.
Ellspermann served as a special guest speaker, followed by a presentation by Warsaw Community School Corporation Superintendent Dr. David Hoffert, OAMTC Director Tom Till and Ivy Tech Northwest and North Central Chancellor Dr. Thomas Coley. They took turns explaining the origins of the OAMTC, its programs and the role it plays in training students for the workforce, especially in the area of orthopedics.
Following the presentation, Ellspermann, the mayors and others gathered toured the facility and saw machinery demonstrations by Ivy Tech representatives and students.
Warsaw Mayor Joe Thallemer presented each of the mayors in attendance, including Phil Jenkins, Nappanee; Terry E. McDonald, New Haven; Dave Wood, Mishawaka; Dick Hickman, Angola; Ryan Daniels, Columbia City; SuzAnne Handshoe, Kendallville;Todd Fiandt, Garrett; Mark Senter, Plymouth; Joseph Kelsey, Woodburn; Ted Denton, Rochester; and Mayor Norman Yoder, Auburn.
