Naked Pedestrian Struck On I-465
INDIANAPOLIS — At approximately 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 25, troopers from the Indiana State Police responded to calls of a naked pedestrian on I-465 southbound near 38th Street on the west side.
Shortly before police arrived witnesses say the male walked out into traffic and was struck by a car. The driver of that brown 2003 Toyota, 76-year-old Carol Hoffman of Indianapolis, was not injured. When police arrived they found a naked male laying in the roadway, still conscious and breathing, being tended to by good samaritans that had stopped to help.
A preliminary investigation by Trooper Luke Berrier determined the male subject stopped his car on the right shoulder for unknown reasons, he exited his vehicle and began walking south on the shoulder leaving a trail of his clothes behind him on the ground.
Witnesses saw him repeatedly flailing his arms and throwing himself against the concrete wall along the interstate and falling down, all while taking off all his clothes. It appears this subject may have been under the influence of drugs at the time and is facing preliminary charges of public intoxication and indecent exposure.
The male subject, whose identity will be released once confirmed, was transported by ambulance to Eskenazi Hospital. His injuries do not appear to be life threatening however the extent of those injuries are unknown at this time.
