6-Year-Old Boy Saves His Grandpa’s Life
WATERLOO, IOWA — A 6-year-old boy goes ice fishing with his grandpa and ends up saving his life.
Michael Dorn Jr. and his grandpa were ice fishing at George Wyth State Park.
As it grew dark, it became hard to see, and they decided to head home.
On their way back, Michael’s grandpa fell and became unconscious after hitting his head on the ice.
They were about 150 yards from shore, and according to our meteorologists, it was less than zero degrees outside at that time.
Michael went looking for help. He eventually found two other fisherman and told them to call 9-1-1.
Doctors say Michael’s grandpa had a sprained neck and concussion, but things could have been worse without Mickey’s quick thinking.
Michael’s grandpa says he hopes this is a reminder that there are a lot of dangers when on the ice.
