Pilots Topple Taylor
MISHAWAKA – The Bethel College men’s basketball team lit it up on the offensive end Saturday.
The host Pilots rolled to a huge halftime lead en route to topping Taylor 89-68 in a Crossroads League contest in the Wiekamp Center.
No. 10 Bethel opened the game with a 13-5 lead and never looked back in avenging an earlier season 84-79 league loss to Taylor. The Pilots built a 53-29 lead at intermission.
Junior guard Clay Yeo led the offensive hit parade for the Pilots. The former Triton High School star canned 20 points on 7-9 shooting from the field, which included 3-3 from distance. Yeo also had 11 rebounds and eight assists in the win.
Jordyn Coon, a Warsaw product, had 10 points and six rebounds for Bethel.
The Pilots, who improved to 9-1 at home this season, shot 9-13 from 3-point range in the victory. Caleb Oetjen had 15 points for the Pilots, who had six players score in double figures.
Bethel, now 18-5 overall and 8-4 in conference play, will host No. 12 Marian in another league tussle Tuesday night at 7 p.m. The Pilots then turn around and host East-West University on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
