Candidate Filing Ends, Ballot Set For Primary
KOSCIUSKO COUNTY — The ballot is set for the May 3 Primary election. Candidate filing ended at noon today, Friday, Feb. 5.
Local Races
Here are the local races:
Marcia A. Baumgartner and incumbent Brad Jackson will battle it out for the nomination for Kosciusko County Commissioner-Northern District on the Republican ticket.
There are six Republican candidates vying for three nominations for Kosciusko County Council At-Large. Robert G. Sanders is the only incumbent who filed. Other candidates include Evan J. McKinley, Sue Ann Mitchell, Tressa Nichols, Ronald Robinson and Joni L. Truex.
Running unopposed on the Republican ballot will be:
Clerk Of Circuit Court — Ann M. Torphy, incumbent
County Treasurer — Rhonda J. Helser
County Coroner — Anthony W. Ciriello, incumbent
Surveyor — Michael Kissinger, incumbent
Commissioner Middle District — Ronald D. Truex, incumbent
No Democrat candidate filed for local offices.
State Races
Two newcomers will be seeking the nomination for State Senator District 12. Republican candidates will be Blake Doriot and Joanna King. Sen. Carlin Yoder is not seeking re-election.
Senators Ryan Mishler, district 9 and Randall Head, district 18, will be unopposed on the Republican ticket.
State Rep. David Wolkins, district 18, is being opposed by Michael L. (Mike) Ragan.
No Democrat candidate filed for these offices.
Federal Races
Both Republicans and Democrats will be choosing nominees for President and U.S. Senator.
On the Republican ballot, voters will chose between Jeb Bush, Ben Carson, Chris Christie, Ted Cruz, Carly Fiorina, John R. Kasich, Rand Paul, Maco Rubio and Donald Trump for the Presidential nomination.
For U.S. Senator the choices will be Eric Holcomb, Marlin A. Stutzman and Todd Young.
U.S. Rep. Jackie Walorski, district 2, will be going against newcomer Jeff Petermann.
The U.S. Rep. District 3 race will include: Jim Banks, Mark Willard Baringer, Elizabeth “Liz” Brown, Pam Galloway Kevin “SGT” Howell and Kip Tom.
On the Democrat ballot, voters will choose between Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders for the Presidential nomination.
There will be a race for U.S. Representative District 2 between Douglas Carpenter and Lynn C. Coleman. There will also be a race for the district 3 nomination between Toby Lamp, RN; Todd Nightenhelser; John Forrest Roberson and Tommy A. Schrader.
Baron Hill is seeking the Democrat nomination for U.S. Senator and John R. Gregg is seeking the nomination for governor
