Homer W. Wigent
Homer W. Wigent, 69, of Columbia City, passed away Sunday morning, Feb. 7, 2016, at his home.
Born Sept. 26, 1946, in Jeffersonville, he was the son of Homer W. Slavely, Sr. and Evelyn (Burress) Slavely.
By the age of 10, he was adopted by Carl and Francis Wigent of South Whitley. He attended South Whitley High School and went on to join the U.S. Marine Corps. He worked various jobs before starting going to CNR Plating and Carnation Dairy. He retired in 2011 after 33 years at Shambaugh & Sons.
On June 24, 1994 Homer married the lady of his dreams, Diane R. Hull in Columbia City and moved her and her girls down to his home in Tunker.
Survivors include his wife: Diane Wigent; daughters: Michelle (Glenn) Alvord of Columbia City and Denise (Karmen) Noe of Columbia City; children: Ricky (Tonya) Wigent of North Carolina and Halena (Mike Raska) McMullen of New Haven; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2016 at DeMoney-Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Nolt Cemetery.
