North Webster Chamber Talks Dinner And Dues
NORTH WEBSTER — The upcoming North Webster-Tippecanoe Township Chamber of Commerce awards dinner and the dues deadline for inclusion in the 2016-17 North Webster Community Guide were highlights of the February meeting of the chamber. It was held Monday, Feb. 8, at North Webster American Legion Post 253.
President Sue Ward, Sue’s Creations, reminded members formal invitations for the dinner had been mailed and responses are required. If any chamber members have not received one, please contact Stacey Cox, Pletcher Insurance, (574) 834-3414 or email [email protected] dinner is for the membership and employees and will be held at the North Webster Community Center Banquet Hall Monday, March 7. Social hour with a cash bar by The Sleepy Owl Supper Club is at 5:30 p.m. An Italian dinner catered by The Cake Lady is at 6:15 p.m.
There will be a brief program and three awards will be presented. David Colquitt, Eastlund Funeral Home, and Susan Stump, The Papers Inc., are cochairmen.
Membership dues deadline is Monday, Feb. 15, for inclusion in the North Webster Community Guide. Ward explained, “Annual dues are $20 for individuals; $35 for first time ever businesses and organizations; $65 for businesses and groups with nine employees or less; and $90 for 10 employees or more. North Webster Community Guide committee is Karilyn Metcalf, Dixie Sternwheeler Inc.; Secretary Helen Leinbach, North Webster Community Public Library, and Cox. Stoelting reminded those in attendance this is the most popular and biggest advertising opportunity the chamber offers its members. Copies are distributed for one year throughout North Webster and the surrounding area.
Chamber members wishing to submit blurbs of upcoming events or sales for the monthly newsletter are asked to send them to www.northwebster.com. This is a free benefit of belonging to the chamber. Dixie Day will be held Saturday, July 30. Vendor applications for both the art fair and the food booths are available to download online. The membership voted to give a discount to vendors wishing to participate in Dixie Day and the North Webster Fall Festival. Booth space is $25 per event. Those signing up for both will only pay $40.
Tangibles Consignment and Resale is the February Business of the Month. “Owner Scott Kuhn returned to his hometown to start the business and believes in participating in and giving back to the community and so was chosen for the honor by the chamber board of directors,” explained Ward.
The chamber’s shoe drive will end in July. Boxes for donation of used shoes are still at North Webster Community Center and North Webster Ace Hardware for the rest of February. This is a fundraising endeavor for the chamber that also aids micro businesses in Third World countries.
Larry Rensberger, Lakeland Kiwanis Club, invited the chamber and every other service and non-profit group to send one representative to a meeting about volunteering at 7 p.m. Monday, March 21, Quaker Haven Camp Dining Hall.
