BOURBON — Bourbon-based Harmony Press is expanding its downtown operations, thanks to a 10-year tax abatement approved by the town council Tuesday, Feb. 9. The company will invest $1.75 million into the expansion.

Harmony says the investment includes $1.5 million for the purchase and setup of new machinery and $250,000 for the expansion of its Bourbon facility. The company says the investment will increase its efficiency and profits, retain local workers and strengthen the local economy.

“Harmony is a valuable corporation that gives so much to the town, both as a major employer of our residents and as a substantial funder in projects like the town’s recent Habitat for Humanity project,” said Les McFarlin, president of the Bourbon town council. “We are pleased to be able to give back to them by supporting their expansion.”

Harmony Press employs 60 full-time workers. The company’s website says it moved from Mentone to Bourbon in 1963.
