Vikings Finish Strong To Clip Culver
CULVER – A strong finish carried the Tippecanoe Valley boys basketball team to an impressive road win Tuesday night.
The Vikings outscored Culver by 13 points in the final quarter in posting a 65-49 non-conference win over the host Cavaliers.
Valley led by just a 41-38 count entering the final frame before outscoring Culver 24-11 in the last stanza.
The Vikings, who have won two in a row and three of their last four games, got strong production from a number of players in the win.
Neil Clampitt scored a team-high 19 points to lead Valley to the victory.
Jarod Duzenbery netted 18 points and Alec Craig had 12 for the Vikings. Gavin Bussard chipped in with seven points and Brandon Webster added six for the winners. Craig and Bussard each grabbed six rebounds.
Valley trailed 14-11 after the first quarter before taking a 27-23 halftime lead.
The Vikings shot 23-45 overall from the field and were 13-19 at the free throw line. Valley had just 10 turnovers in the contest.
Everett Krueger led Culver with a game-high 21 points. Josh Krack scored 13 for the Cavaliers.
Culver shot 17-38 from the field and 10-18 from the line and had 17 turnovers on the night.
Valley won the junior varsity contest by a 55-27 final.
Valley, now 8-12, will host Triton Friday night. Culver, which drops to 13-6 with its second loss in a row, will play at South Central Thursday night.
