Polar Plungers Take To Center Lake
WARSAW — Warsaw’s annual Polar Plunge is this weekend beginning at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, at Center Lake. On-site registration, including walk-ups, will be from 10:30 a.m. to noon at Center Lake Pavilion, 117 E. Canal St., Warsaw.
Sunny and 48 degrees is the forecast for Saturday. The plunge will be a live radio broadcast so wear your best radio face.
It is not too late to recruit your friends and family to plunge. Plungers can register online or in person on event day. On-site registration opens 10:30 a.m. Saturday. A waiver is available if any plungers are 12 to 18-years of age please have a parent or guardian sign it in advance if their parent does not attend.
A few of plunge tips:
- Old bath robes, beach towels and old athletic or water shoes are important plunge gear. There is a warm place to change after you plunge.
- You can jump in or walk in from the beach but diving is not allowed.
- Your fund raising web page will still work after the plunge for several days.
- Virtual plungers are allowed, register online.
- There will be a silent auction at the After-Splash Bash with some cool items so a bringing a little cash or a check is a good idea.
- Remember that awards are given for the best costume, largest team, most money raised by a team, most raised by an individual and for Warsaw only a special award. The Chillin’ to the Bone Challenge Award will be given to the largest number of plungers on an Orthopedic company team
- No dogs allowed. The Warsaw PD dive team is present to keep the event safe but they are not animal control officers.
- No Plungers under 12 years of age.
