A Day Two Families Will Not Forget
SYRACUSE — Today, Friday, Feb. 19, is one of those days the family of Tara Thornburg and Joshua Knisley will never forget. It was on this day one-year-ago both became victims of a double shooting.
Tara Thornburg was 23 years old at the time of her death and Knisley was 19.
Both were graduates of Wawasee High School.
Thornburg is remembered by many as a nice young lady.
“Tara Thornburg was a beautiful person inside and out,” said long time friend Shari Wilson. “She always put people and their feelings before her own. You could always count on her. She was one of a kind.”
Knisley, a former employee at The Frog Taveryn, was described as “big-hearted” and someone who would do “anything for any one.” Others remember Knisley has having a love for his car stereo systems and during his high school time, was a volunteer firefighter.
“He was just a good soul,” Knisley’s mom, Rhonda Bickel, stated during a candlelight vigil to celebrate his birthday on April 21. “He truly had a heart of gold … people who have told me they had a bad day or were going through a personal struggle in their life, Josh was always there …”
