Larry L. Klein
Larry L. Klein, 80, of Akron, passed at 11:05 a.m. Friday, Feb. 19, 2016, at Kosciusko Community Hospital of Warsaw, after being in failing health for several months.
He was born on Aug. 14, 1935, in Akron, to Ellis and Treva (Morris) Klein.
He was married on June 19, 1955, in Akron, to Barbara McDaniel she preceded in Aug. of 1973, then he married on Sept 13, 1977, in Mishawaka,to Carolyn Kay Slaby, she survives.
He had been a superintendent, principle, school teacher at Maconaquah Schools and North Miami Schools where he coached basketball and cross country. He also had been a minister at Church of God, Muncie; First Church of God, Peru; and Warner Christian Academy, South Dayton Beach, Fla.
Larry was a 1953 graduate of Beaver Dam High School, then Anderson College in 1958, and masters degree in school administration from Butler University. He was ordained in 1986 as a minister of the Church of God. He was a former member of the Akron Lions Club and the Rochester Optimist Club.
Survivors include his wife: Kay Klein, Akron; a daughter: Kathy Miles, Akron; sons: Melvin Klein, Fort Wayne; Gary Klein, Beaver Dam Lake, Claypool; stepdaughters: Cami and husband Steve Nail, Atlanta, Ga.; and Keriann and husband David Martin, Knightstown; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife: Barbara Klein; parents: Ellis and Treva Klein; and son-in-law: Verl Miles in 2013.
Memorial visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, and 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, Fe. 24, at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the service, from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, at Akron Church of God, 301 S. West St., Akron, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Pastor Ryan Chapman will officiate. Burial will be in Akron Cemetery, Akron.
