Second Person Arrested In Assault
WARSAW — A second individual has been arrested in connection with the Sept. 5, 2015, assault on Jose Guadalupe Ramos.
Christian Uriel Menchaca, 30, 1110 E. Main Street, Warsaw, was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail at 1:35 p.m. Monday, Feb. 22. He has been charged with aiding, inducing or causing aggravated battery, a level 3 felony, and aiding, inducing or causing battery (causing serious bodily injury) a level 5 felony.
Christian Menchaca is reportedly a brother to Jesus Menchaca who was arrested Saturday and charged with aggravated battery and battery causing serious bodily injury. (See related: September Bar Fight Results In Arrest.)
The charge of aiding, inducing or causing aggravated battery states Christian Menchaca knowing or intentionally aided Jesus Menchaca to “knowingly or intentionally inflict injury” on Ramos that caused a substantial risk of death and caused protracted loss or impairment of the function of a bodily member or organ. The charge of aiding, inducing or causing battery, states Christian Menchaca aided Jesus Menchaca to knowingly or intentionally touching Ramos in a rude or insolent or angry manner resulting in serious bodily injury.
Christian Menchaca and Jesus Menchaca allegedly grabbed Ramos and drug him away from his vehicle and began punching him. One witness observed Jesus Menchaca kicking Ramos in the stomach and head two times. Another witness saw both individuals fighting with an older man, later identified as Ramos, and saw Jesus Menchaca jump in the air and stomp on Ramos’ head.
It was through a photograph line up that the two brothers were identified as those involved in the assault against Ramos.
He is being held on $20,000 surety and $250 cash bond.
