Teen Survivor Of Kalamazoo Shooting Clinging To Life
KALAMAZOO — A teenager who was shot by Jason Dalton is clinging to life.
Fourteen-year-old Abigail Kopf was shot in the Cracker Barrel parking lot along with four women who were all killed, including a local from Berrien County.
Kopf was pronounced dead at the hospital, but while doctors prepared for organ donation, Kopf squeezed her mother’s hand.
Vicki Kopf, mother of Abigail Kopf, says, “It was a miracle on its own.”
“Abigail is strong. She was a vibrant, beautiful young lady and did not deserve this,” she added.
Kopf is currently in critical condition.
Doctors say the other survivor, Tiana Carruthers, has a bullet lodged in her kidney but is expected to recover.
The 45-year-old suspect has admitted involvement in the random rampage. He’s expected back in court in a few weeks.
