Craig, Duzenbery Lead Vikings Past Warriors
SYRACUSE — It was a sectional warm up for the two county rivals as the visitors left with a 53-35 victory.
Tippecanoe Valley and Wawasee will meet in the first round of the IHSAA Class 3-A NorthWood Sectional Tuesday night and the two teams got to feel each other out on Friday with the Vikings leaving with a pep in their step.
Alec Craig and Jarod Duzenbery led all players, scoring 14 points each for Valley. Craig also tied for the team lead, along with Bryce Webster, with seven rebounds.
Wawasee was led offensively by Jairus Boyer and Jayce Boatwright who had 11 and 10 points, respectively. Chase Rookstool led the Warriors in rebounds with five.
A big difference in the game was the shooting percentage disparity. Valley shot 43-percent from the floor while Wawasee shot just 28-percent. The Warriors only had 12 points at the break compared to Valley’s 32.
Wawasee (2-20) and Valley (10-12) will play the second game at Tuesday’s sectional opening round, starting at approximately 7:30 p.m.
Wawasee won the JV contest 49-39 and finishes the season at 15-7.
