Virginia Lee ‘Ginny’ Wyland
Virginia Lee “Ginny” Wyland, 75, Milford, passed away at 5:51 a.m. Monday, Feb. 29, 2016, at her home. She was born on April 21, 1940, in Goshen, to Arthur Dale and Marcella Virginia (Keim) Coy Sr.
She was a lifetime Syracuse and Milford area resident, attended Syracuse High School and graduated in 1960 from Milford High School. On May 10, 2000 in Milford, she married Michael D. “Mike” Wyland who survives and was formerly married to William Bess and Kenneth Rogala. She retired in 2007 from Wawasee Community School Corporation as the payroll / bookkeeper after 37 years of service. Her first 13 years was at Milford School and the last 24 years was at the corporation central office in Syracuse. She also formerly worked part time as the bookkeeper at the Brook Point Inn in Syracuse for a few years.
She attended the Richville United Methodist Church in Ligonier, was a member of the Eagles Lodge in Syracuse and former member of the O.E.S. (Order of Eastern Star) in Milford.
She is survived by her husband: Mike Wyland, Milford; two daughters: Angela Ann Ferrell, Goshen; Mary Kay Bess, Warsaw; son: William John ‘Bill’ (Jodi) Bess, Wolcottville; three grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters: Wanda Brown, Goshen; Pat (Art) Horn, Mentone; three sisters-in-law: Janet Coy, Goshen; Gwen Coy, Arlington, Texas; and Sandy Carter, Ligonier; brother-in-law: David Hire, Ligonier. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister: Betty Hire; and two brothers: Arthur D. ‘Dale’ Coy Jr.; Marvin Ray Coy; and foster brother: George A. Carter.
Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at Owen Family Funeral Home, Syracuse. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 3, at the Richville United Methodist Church, Ligonier, with Pastor Kevin Dekoninck of the church officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery near Milford.
Preferred memorials to Richville United Methodist Church, Ligonier, or Kosciusko County Special Olympics, care of Robin Seitner, Mentone. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
