Joe David Shepherd
Joe David Shepherd of Warsaw, passed away at 2:45 p.m. Monday, Feb. 29, 2016, at Kosciusko Community Hospital of Warsaw, at the age of 73.
He was born on June 1, 1942, in New London, Ohio to Joe Shepherd and Opal (Boyde) Shepherd.
He was a 1960 graduate of Mentone High School. Joe then served in the National Guard for six years and was honorably discharged in 1968. He worked as a roll tender at R.R. Donnelley of Warsaw retiring in 1998, and for a number of years prior he had worked at DaLite Screen in Warsaw. Joe loved the great outdoors…fishing and hunting, he also loved NASCAR and was a big fan of Dale Earnhardt, Sr. Most of all he enjoyed being with his family and grandchildren.
Joe will be lovingly remembered by his four sons: David (Michelle) Shepherd, Romania; Danny (Lisa) Shepherd, Sydney; Matt Goble, Warsaw; Jason (Marie) Goble, Claypool; two daughters: Billie (Doug) Myers, Larwill; Tabatha (Clarence) McAfoose, North Manchester; 19 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. Also surviving are four brothers: Gary (Kay) Shepherd, South Carolina; Dick (Mona) Shepherd, North Manchester; Karl (Mary Lou) Shepherd, Warsaw; Kenny Shepherd, Warsaw. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, March 3, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw. There will also be viewing an hour prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. Friday, March 4. His funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, March 4, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home and officiated by Pastor Bob Brown.
Burial will take place at Palestine Cemetery in Palestine, with military honors provided by the American Legion Post #49 and V.F.W. #1126 both of Warsaw.
