Warsaw Track Team Opens Season
MARION – The Warsaw boys track team turned in some strong performances Saturday in its season debut.
The Tigers notched a trio of first-place finishes in the Indoor State Qualifier held at Indiana Wesleyan University.
The quartet of Rane Kilburn, Landan Perry, Ross Armey and Brandon Reinholt topped the field in the 4 X 200 relay. The foursome notched a winning time of 1:35.02.
The duo of Tommy Hickerson and Brock Riley each notched wins for the Tigers. Hickerson was first in the long jump with a top leap of 20-9 2.5 and Riley won the high jump as he cleared 6-2.
Luke Wilson ws second in the high jump as he cleared 5-10. Armey placed fourth in the 60-meter hurdles in a time of 9.37 and Kilburn was fourth in the 60-meter sprint in a time of 7.32.
No team scores were kept in the meet, which qualifies competitors for the HSR State Meet later this month.
Warsaw is scheduled to compete in indoor state qualifier meets on March 12 back at IWU and also at IPFW. The HSR State Meet will be held March 26 at Purdue University.
The outdoor opener for coach Matt Thacker’s talented team is scheduled for March 22 at Easst Noble. The home opener is March 29 versus Penn.
