M & M Boys, Secrest Named To Michiana All-Stars
MISHAWAKA – The rosters for the fifth annual McDonald’s Michiana High School All-Star basketball games were released, and three local players were tabbed to the respective lists.
Warsaw’s guard duo of junior Kyle Mangas and senior Paul Marandet were selected to participate in the boys game, which is scheduled to take place Tuesday, March 29 at the Wiekamp Center at Bethel College. The duo helped Warsaw to a dramatic 38-35 sectional championship victory Saturday night over Elkhart Central. Mangas will go down in Warsaw basketball lore with his layup with just 1.6 seconds remaining, giving Warsaw the lead after Central tied the game just seconds before.
Secrest adds yet another honor to her growing résumé, already tapped to the Supreme 15 and Indiana Junior All-Star teams earlier this month. Secrest helped Tippecanoe Valley to the regional finals as well as Three Rivers Conference and Tippecanoe Valley sectional titles.
The girls game will begin at 5 p.m. with the boys game slated for approximately 7:15 p.m. Tickets, just $5 for adults and $2 for students, will be sold at the door. Children under 12 are free to enter.
Coaching the boys team will be Ryan Binkley and Alex Daniel, Bethel College assistant men’s basketball coaches. Coaching the girls team will be Aubrey Minix, Bethel College assistant women’s basketball coach, along with Kevin Brandy and Eric Wodrich of Hoosier Premier.
