Western Governors University Recognizes Red Cross Month
INDIANAPOLIS — In honor of Red Cross Month this March, Western Governors University is offering a new scholarship to employees and volunteers of the American Red Cross and joining a nationwide effort by WGU to donate $10 for each new referral throughout the month of March. The American Red Cross Scholarship, worth $2,000, will be awarded to students at the end of March 2016. Employees and verified volunteers of the organization are eligible to receive the scholarship upon enrollment.
“As an American Red Cross volunteer since the age of 16, I have seen the incredible impact their hardworking staff and volunteers have had on the State of Indiana and throughout our country,” said WGU Chancellor, Allison Barber. “This scholarship will help the men and women of the Red Cross pay for college and take more advanced leadership positions in Indiana’s workforce.”
In addition to the scholarship, WGU has vowed to donate $10 to the American Red Cross for each new student referred through the WGU Indiana online referral form in the month of March.
“We thank WGU Indiana for its work in recognizing Red Cross Month,” said Indiana Red Cross President, Chad Priest. “This month is critical in raising money and awareness that allows our staff and volunteers to respond rapidly to unforeseen disasters.”
