Gerald Lloyd ‘Jerry’ Carter
Gerald Lloyd “Jerry” Carter, 77, Wabash, died at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2016, at Bickford Cottage in Wabash, where he had lived since Sept. 2015. He was born March 5, 1939, in Wabash County, to C. Arden and Esther (Neal) Carter.
Jerry was a 1957 graduate of Noble High School and attended Manchester College. He married Sandra Jane Keppel in Wabash on March 7, 1959; she died June 21, 2013. Jerry was a retired car dealer and owned Carter Sales and Service in Wabash. He was a member of Wabash Friends Church, loved his grandchildren, and was the happiest when he was helping others. He also enjoyed spending time with special friends, refinishing furniture, and going to car shows.
He is survived by two daughters: Christine (James Snodgrass) Curless, LaFontaine; Lorri (Greg) Miller, Andrews; three grandchildren: Maggi (Rich) Easterday, Roann; Liza Miller, Andrews; and Ryan Curless, Greenwood; two great-grandchildren: Megan and Mason Easterday, both of Roann; his brother: Ronald (Janet) Carter, Clearwater, Fla. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother: Rev. Charles Carter; and his granddaughter: Briannon Curless.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, March 12, at the Wabash Friends Church, with David Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Friends Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Friday at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, Wabash.
Preferred memorial is Wabash Friends Church.
