Yocum Places Handgun To Head Of Victim
MENTONE — A handgun was allegedly placed against the head of a victim in an argument resulting in charges being filed against a Mentone man.
Joseph H. Yocum, 38, 9205 W. SR 25, Mentone, was arrested Tuesday afternoon, March 8, on charges of intimidation with a deadly weapon, a level 5 felony, and domestic battery with a child under 16 present, a level 6 felony; and domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor.
Court documents filed on March 3, state at 2:42 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 28, Kosiciuko County Sheriff’s Deputy Mike Folwer, was called to a domestic complaint at the Yocum residence.
He spoke with the victim who reported her husband and she had been drinking and were arguing when he became angry and struck her on the face several times. The victim also stated he retrieved a gun from the bedroom and placed the barrel against her forehead causing her to fear for her life.
The couple’s daughter was present and witnessed the incident. The child also allegedly intervened by getting between the two adults and attempting to push Yocum away from the victim. The child also told him to stop.
Police did observe several firearms with ammunition scattered on the bedroom floor.
He is being on $11,000 surety bond.
