Dear Editor:

A great deal of emphasis has been placed on the presidential primary elections. It seems that every evening there is another debate. Which candidate is the one? Watching Fox News and reading tweets just adds to the confusion. Despite it all, one thing has become increasingly clear to me. I’m supporting Jim Banks for Congress.

I try to keep up on the issues. Most would agree that national security is a priority. Another troublesome problem for our country is immigration reform. Abortion since 1973 continues to curse us. And now, we face challenges from those who would subvert our religious freedoms under the guise of civil liberties.

It won’t be long before the fight we see playing out here in Indiana for our right to exercise our faith and conscience will be going on in Washington. Jim Banks understands this threat and has been a vigilant defender of our First Amendment rights in the State Senate. Jim understands that America was founded by people fleeing religious persecution. We cannot afford to sacrifice this founding principle.

Our American motto is “In God We Trust.” As a social conservative, Jim Banks knows that nothing is more sacred than the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. He is a defender of our First Amendment. He is our champion for Congress.
