WARSAW — Thirty-four Warsaw Area Career Center Chapter Business Professionals of America students competed in Indianapolis Sunday, March 6, and Saturday, March 7, at the BPA state competition. Students also participated in open competitive events, leadership training sessions and business meetings.

Three Warsaw BPA members earned their place to compete in not one, but two events each at the BPA National Competition in Boston this May.

The following placed during the competition:

• Spencer Gareiss, third in personal financial management, fifth in fundamental accounting.
• John Kuhn, second in Java programming, third in C++ programming.
• Justin Stout, eighth in Java programming, fifth in Visual Basic/C# programming.
• Nate Baker, 10th place in the fundamental accounting event.
• Lucas Cone, sixth in the computer modeling event.
• Hunter Haines, 10th in advanced accounting.
• David Homme, ninth place in the C++ programming event.
• Matt Kiphart, 10th in the computer network technology contest.
• Greer Smith, sixth place in the medical office procedures event.
• Spencer Gareiss, fourth place in the financial math and analysis contest.
• John Kuhn, 10th in the computer programming concept event.

Lucas Cone made final call-backs at state for the extemporaneous speech event, placing him in the top nine in Indiana.

WACC financial math and analysis team made final call-backs at the competition, placing them in the top 10 teams in Indiana. this team included Marcelo Brito, Ben Britton, Jacob Brimm and Isaac Lenon.

WACC’s small business management team also made final call-backs at the competition. This team included Maggie Liu, Noemi Lopez and Neema Patel.

WACC Chapter BPA Advisors are Steve Waldeck and Scott Schramm, with the assistance of Angie Heinsman and Kelley Ross.
