SYRACUSE — Upcoming events and programs at Syracuse Public Library.
Syracuse, The Home Of A Famous Person
One of the world’s greatest mathematicians, Archimedes of Syracuse, was the first to calculate Pi. Born in 287 B.C., the formula for Pi was not his most notable discovery, but part of a list of practical solutions that he solved for his seaside community in Sicily. Monday, March 14, is Pi day; a day to celebrate an infinitely useful and fascinating number. So, have a pie. It is a nice round shape that is commonly found in nature and many manmade items.
The Week At The Syracuse Library
Story time with nursery rhymes is at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 14. Art for Preschoolers meets at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 15, for a frozen event with ice cubes.
Also on Tuesday, young adult book club is meeting for super-hero coloring pages, eating a haystack jumble, and a new book viewing. Middle school and high school students are invited to join the evening’s activities at 5 p.m.

Monthly Clubs
The daytime book club, Food from Fiction, is reading a light and tasty mystery at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 17. The characters in the story are the owners of a catering/restaurant business. Food will be served that is described in the book, “A Catered St. Patrick’s Day” by Isis Crawford. Drop in to visit with the group and wear a little green, after all the book club is meeting on St. Patrick’s Day.
Lego Build is starting at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 19, to work on the bricks. The library is introducing several new Lego sets. Legos are a great way for parents and kids to spend a couple of hours together.
All activities offered by the Syracuse Library are free and open to everyone regardless of whether the participants have a library card with the library or not. Call the library with questions at (574) 457-3022.
