Organizational Meeting To Be Held For Non-Profits, Volunteers
SYRACUSE — In a recent letter to the editor in our sister publication, The Mail-Journal, Larry Rensberger addressed the local communities with a challenge to give back through volunteer work.
Rensberger wrote, “(Seven years ago), 27 percent of all Americans were volunteers. It is down to 21 percent. This trend is unlikely to change unless something is done.” He offered a challenge for the community to meet at 7 p.m. Monday, March 21, to help increase the numbers of volunteers specifically in the Wawasee Community School Corp.
The meeting is to be held at the dining hall of Quaker Haven camp, located at 111 EMS D16C Lane. “The idea is for groups depending on volunteers to make things better in our community meet and plan to have a volunteer workshop where community members can learn about the various organizations and volunteer opportunities,” wrote Rensberger.
He has invited public members and members of non-profits to attend. Non-profit volunteers and organizers can express their needs for publicity and planning, and public members will be able to gain a better understanding of how they can contribute by speaking with members and viewing displays.
Rensberger has asked those who plan on attending the meeting call ahead of time for planning purposes. His contact number is (574) 834-1842.
