Penn’s Buhr Tabbed As Indiana All-Star
INDIANAPOLIS – Penn High School basketball standout Camryn Buhr was a state champion last month.
Now, the star Kingsmen cager is an Indiana All-Star.
Buhr was one of 13 players from the Hoosier State named today to the 2016 IndyStar Indiana All-Star squad.
Buhr, a 6-1 guard/forward, led the Kingsmen to the Class 4-A state championship on Feb. 27. She scored a game-high 24 points as the Kingsmen crushed defending state champion Columbus North 68-48 in the finale to earn the program’s first state title. The Kingsmen were Class 4-A state runner-ups in both 2011 and 2014.
Buhr, who has signed to play at Lehigh University, was 8-12 from the field and 7-7 from the free throw line in the state title game. She also had seven rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocked shots in a dominating all-around performance.
Buhr averaged a team-high 19.5 points-per-game and 7.2 rebounds-per-game for coach Kristi Ulrich’s team this season. Penn finished their season with a 28-2 mark.
The All-Star team also features Notre Dame recruit Jackie Young of Princeton. The 6-0 guard set the state’s all-time career scoring mark with 3,268 points. Young surpassed the girls state record of 3,085 points set by former Wawasee High School star Shanna Zolman and the boys mark of 3,134 set by Damon Bailey. Young averaged 34.9 points-per-game her senior season and 30.9 per game for her prep career. She has also been named a McDonald’s All-American and will win Miss Basketball honors when the award is announced on April 28.
The All-Star team will play the Indiana Junior All-Stars in exhibition games on June 7 and 9. The squad will then face Kentucky in the annual two-game series on June 11 in Indianapolis at Bankers Life Fieldhouse and on June 12 in Kentucky at a site to be determined.
