Seven Officers Accepting Oath Of Office
Elkhart — The newest patrol and corrections officers for the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department will take their oaths on Tuesday, March 29, and officially begin their service.
The oath of office will be at 11 a.m. in Elkhart Superior Court II located at 315 S. Second St., with the officers accepting the oath from Judge Stephen Bowers.
The new officers are:
- Reserve Officer Scott Henely is a 1986 graduate of Daniel Gross High School in Omaha, Neb. He received his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of Nebraska in 1990.
- Corrections Officer Gary Brooks is a 2010 gradate of Mishawaka High School. Gary has been serving our country in the National Guard since graduating in 2010.
- Correction Officer Kiel Hunter is a 2013 graduate of Lakeland High School. Kiel will earn his Associate’s Degree in Public Safety from Ivy Tech Community College this spring.
- Corrections Officer David Hopkins is a 2011 graduate of Concord High School. He has earned 40 credit hours toward his degree from IPFW. David is currently serving our country as a sergeant with the Indiana National Guard.
- Corrections Officer Nikolo Pesek is a 2010 graduate of Culver Community High school. Pesek served in the United States Army from 2010-2014.
- Corrections Officer Darla Ulrich is a 2010 graduate of Fairfield High School. Darla earned her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and Psychology from Grace College in 2013. Darla was a volunteer on the Columbia City Fire Department for two years.
- Patrol Officer Jamie Sterling is a 2011 graduate of Northwood High School. He has been employed with the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department as a corrections officer since January of 2013.
