Camp Kesem Hosts Annual Fundraiser
SOUTH BEND — Camp Kesem Notre Dame, an organization dedicated to supporting children through and beyond their parent’s cancer, announces its annual Make the Magic event at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 9, at Club Naimoli in the Joyce Center at the University of Notre Dame.
Camp Kesem is the only national organization dedicated to the over 3 million children who have been touched by a parent’s cancer. For many children, their Camp Kesem experience is a life-changing event providing them a community of children with similar experiences and a safe and welcoming environment to have fun and rediscover their childhood.
Driven by passionate college student volunteers, Camp Kesem Notre Dame supports the Northern Indiana and Southern Michigan community. Funds raised during this annual fundraising night of dinner, philanthropy, and entertainment will help provide year-long peer support and send 80 children to camp from July 31 to Aug. 6. Attendees are served a formal dinner, learn more about Kesem through guest speakers, and have the chance to participate in a live auction and paddle raise.
There are countless families who have found joy in Camp Kesem. One camper’s parent shared, “Camp Kesem is really a life changing experience for our family. My two teenagers come back happy, excited and confident that they can handle what may come because they have developed such a strong support system from camp. The counselors are amazing and should feel so good about what they do. The friendships the kids made will last and get them through tough times. As a mother, it is wonderful to know that my children feel better and happy as a result of going to Camp Kesem.”
