Carl Koontz’s Son Wears Daddy’s Badge With Pride
KOKOMO — As the family of Howard County Deputy Carl Koontz prepares to the lay the fallen officer to rest, the deputy’s 8-month-old son, Noah, is on the minds of many.
Koontz’s wife, Kassandra, posted photos of little Noah to Facebook Tuesday.
“Maybe to lighten the mood a little with this handsome little man!” Kassandra wrote. “He is wearing his daddy’s badge with pride!”
Deputy Carl Koontz was killed early Sunday morning when he and a fellow officer were met by gunfire while serving a warrant at a mobile home in Russiaville. Sgt. Jordan Buckley was injured in the exchange, but has since been released from the hospital.
An autopsy determined that Koontz died from a gunshot wound to the pelvis and his death was ruled a homicide.
Funeral arrangements are as follows:
Visitation is March 28 from 1-7 p.m. at Northwestern High School and the funeral is March 29 at 11 a.m. at Northwestern High School. Burial will follow at Albright Cemetery in Kokomo.
The department is asking people to line the route to the cemetery as a gesture of support and respect.
