WARSAW — WCS Middle Schools are celebrating to the tune of success following outstanding performances at the recent Indiana Schools State Music Organization Competition.

A total of 43 students attended the competition from Edgewood and Lakeview Middle schoolsSaturday, March 19, at Goshen Middle School, Goshen.

Edgewood orchestra, comprised of 20 seventh- and eighth-grade students, performed three pieces: “Class Sinfonia,” by Elliot Del Borgo, “The King’s Fiddler,” by Keith Sharp and, “Gauntlet,” by Doug Spata.

Lakeview orchestra, which has 23 members, performed “Wexford Circle,” by Elliot Del Borgo, “Impravada,” by David Shaffer and, “Gauntlet,” by Doug Spata.

The students worked with orchestra instructor Carolyn Stalcup over the past three months to prepare their pieces for the contest. Practices took place both during and after school.

All three judges in the competition awarded the groups a gold rating.
