Vivian C. Stotts
Vivian C. Stotts, 87, a former resident of Columbia City, died at 5:25 p.m. Wednesday March 30, 2016 at Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester where she had been a resident since 2013.
She was born April 26, 1928 in Union City, Mich. a daughter of the late James A. and Minnie Mable (Ingmire) Bodey. As a young child, the family moved to Huntington, Indiana where she completed her schooling.
She was employed by Memcor, Huntington until 1967 when she moved to Columbia City. She then was employed by Essex, Columbia City until her retirement in 1993.
On July 30, 1977 she was united in marriage to Lee Stotts. They made their home at Big Lake. Mr. Stotts died March 28, 2004.
She was a member of the Columbia City Church of the Brethren. Following retirement, she enjoyed both flower and vegetable gardening and spending time with her family.
Surviving are her children: Charles (Vicki) Kelsey, Boulder, Colo.; Cary (Betty) Kelsey, Elkhart; Shirley (Charles) Fox, Indianapolis; Mary (Dan) Riccius, North Manchester; Sharon Lee, Fort Wayne; and Amy (Robert) Blake, Vincennes; step-children: Rocky (Marla) Stotts, Fort Wayne; Ann Marie Astle, Orum, Utah; Jeannine Christy, Liberty Center, Ohio; Ramona Stotts, Mont.; and Bill Stotts, Calif.; 11 grandchildren, one step grandchild; and eight great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two daughters: Charlotte Paulus and Viola Moore; a son: Larry Allen Kelsey; and three sisters: Florence Justice, Gladys Sayre, Betty Hofmann and infant sister, Harriet Bodey.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Huntington. Visitation will be 2–5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
