One Injured In Saturday Rollover Accident
PIERCETON — Ice-covered roads were deemed the cause of a weekend rollover accident on SR 13, north of Shoop Road, Pieceton.
At approximately 10:54 a.m. Saturday, April 9, Ashley N. Lyon, 22, 10532 S. School Ave., Silver Lake, was northbound on SR 13, going around a curve, when her gray 2007 Pontiac hit a patch of ice and began to slide. It went off the road and rolled down a 15-foot embankment, landing on the passenger side and facing south.
A witness reported seeing Lyon ejected from the passenger side window. Emergency crews arrived to find Lyon incoherent. She was transported by ambulance to Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, for possible head and internal injuries.
Officers at the scene reported that, while most of the snow and ice had melted off the road, the curve was in shadow and still slick.
Matt Holderman with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department later spoke with Lyon’s sister, who reported Lyon was in stable condition.
