Guess How Many Birthday Cards This Little Girl Got
EVANSVILLE — Days after her third birthday, Paige Mason and her mom are still opening the thousands of cards and presents they received from all around the world.
Both Paige and her mom suffer from a rare condition that makes their bones fragile and break easily. Paige spent her first two birthdays in a cast. So this year, in an effort to keep things safe and small, her family organized a get-together at their home in Evansville.
All Paige wanted as a present was birthday cards — so her mom Stacy Mason posted a request on social media asking for just that.
And now the girl’s birthday wish has come true in a big way! Mason told TODAY her daughter probably got between 8,000 and 9,000 cards, from all 50 states and 22 countries.
“We’ve counted 4,000 so far, and we’re maybe halfway done,” she said, adding that her living room was taken over with boxes of cards, presents and stuffed animals. “We’re having fun going through everything!”
Paige, who had broken ten bones before she turned 3, was cast-free on her April 6 birthday for the first time ever. Although she did have an ear infection, her mom said.
“But she is a strong girl and still enjoyed her small party!” Mason said. “She’s always down for some cake.”
The thousands of cards ensure this one is a birthday Paige will never forget.
“There are no words for my husband I to express just how thankful we are for the incredible outpouring of love for our precious daughter,” Mason said.
