Triton Tennis: Trojans Open In Style
KNOX – Triton’s girls tennis season opened on a huge positive note Monday, as the Trojans claimed a shutout 5-0 win against Hoosier North Athletic Conference host Knox.
All five of the Trojan courts won in straight sets, but a couple courts needed to put in some extra work. One singles wasn’t one of them, with Shayla May rolling past Sommer Shepherd love and one, and the one doubles team of Hannah Wanemacher and Emma Ross running past Cameron McGowan and Madison Land three and one.
Kolbie Mason at two singles got past Hannah Lueth 6-2, 7-5, and three singles teammate Quinn Downing also needed a longer second set, but beat Shelby Faverty 6-3, 7-6 (5). In the two doubles court, Megan McFarland and Kaitlyn Bailey picked up a 6-4, 7-5 win against Mattie Timm and Kayla Loughry.
The Triton JV claimed all four courts against Knox.
Triton returns to the court Wednesday for another roadie, facing Tippecanoe Valley.
