Wawasee Baseball: Knights Rally For Win
SYRACUSE – East Noble posted two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning Monday night to rally past Wawasee, 5-4, in baseball action at Warrior Field.
In a matchup that was originally scheduled to be played in Kendallville, wet field conditions moved action to Syracuse, and the Knights took advantage of having the second at-bat.
Trailing 4-3 in the bottom of the sixth, the Knights pushed across a pair of runs to which Wawasee starter Lucas Garza was on the hook for in the inning. Wawasee could not respond in the seventh, handing the Warriors its first loss of the season.
Garza pitched well in 5.2 innings of work, striking out three and keeping his ballclub in it long enough to reclaim the lead with two runs in the top of the sixth.
Rylan Kuhn drove in all four runs for Wawasee, knocking in a pair of runs in the fourth and the go-ahead runs in the sixth. Kuhn was 3-for-3 at the plate with a double.
Jacob Garcia was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored, and Chase Rookstool also had a double and two runs scored.
Wawasee (2-1-1) will get back to work Tuesday with a road game at Whitko, a 5 p.m. first pitch in South Whitley.
