Warsaw Track: Armey Marching To Grace
WARSAW – Warsaw Community High School senior Ross Armey signed a letter of intent Tuesday to continue running track at Grace College.
Armey, who will earn his fourth varsity letter in track and field this season, was an All-Northern Lakes Conference and sectional champion in the 300 hurdles as a junior for coach Matt Thacker’s Tigers, and he finished runner-up in the conference in that race as a sophomore. Armey is also a member of the 4×100 and 4×400 relay squads and he participates in the 110 high hurdles as well.
Armey was also a football star for the Tigers. The gritty Tiger, though somewhat undersized in a traditional sense, was a standout defensive end, nose guard and linebacker. Because of his tremendous effort and success on the field as well as through his efforts and contributions off the field, Armey earned a Tiger Pride award after his senior season.
While Armey has worked tremendously hard on the field and track for the Tigers, he has also been equally impressive in the classroom, registering a 9.15 GPA entering his final semester at WCHS, while enrolled in numerous honors and college prep courses.
Armey’s impact has reached the community as well, as he served others as a participant with the WCHS Blitz campaign, the P4C river cleanup project, My Team Triumph and Feed My Starving Children.
Intending to major in Environmental Sciences, Armey will run track for Grace coach Jeff Raymond and the Lancers next spring.
