MILFORD— Upcoming news and events at Milford Public Library.
Spring Story Time
Do you hear the pitter patter of rain falling? Join Malea Johnson for story time at 10:15 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 20 and at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 21. Our theme this week is raindrops keep falling on my head. Johnson will read “Rain” by Robert Kalan, “Rain!” by Linda Ashman, and “One Rainy Day” by M. Christina Butler.
After listening to stories, we will take time to make a spring picture frame. When our picture frames are done, Johnson will have fresh baked cupcakes with rainbows on top. Each Story Time is about 45 minutes long and includes listening to stories, making a craft or playing games, and sharing a nutritious snack. Sign up in the children’s department at the children’s desk now or call us at (574) 658-4312.
David Slonim
As part of our celebration of Indiana’s 200th birthday, we are bringing Indiana author illustrator David Slonim to our schools and to Milford for a series of programs on May 11. Have you ever met an Indiana Author? Now you have a chance. David Slonim, author and illustrator of children’s books, will be coming to the Milford Community Building at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 11. He has a great presentation planned and may even draw some illustrations right on the spot. The event is free and everyone is welcome. The event is sponsored by the Milford Public Library, Milford School, North Webster Elementary, Syracuse Elementary, The Papers Inc, Anonymous, Friends of the Milford Public Library, and Kosciusko Literacy Services. We hope you take advantage of this opportunity for family fun and plan to attend.
Lapsit
Join Johnson for the last week of Infant Lapsit. Lapsit Story Time is for children ages 0 to 36 months. We will sing songs, read stories, and perform finger plays about April Showers. Join us at 11 a.m. and 1:30 a.m. on Friday, April 22.
Freegal
Have you tried Freegal? Milford Public Library patrons can use their library card number and pin, and download free music. You can download up to five free songs every week, and that’s 260 free songs a year. There are thousands of songs, ranging from today’s hits, classical music, rock, country, oldies, and so much more. Try it out today, by clicking the link on the Milford Public Library homepage. Or, if you have questions, come in and ask. We’d love to help you download some sweet tunes.
Friends of the Library News
Do you have lots of books or magazines laying around the house, gathering dust? Why not donate them to the library for others to buy and read. The Friends of the Library welcomes all your donations of books, CDs, DVDs, magazines, and sheet music. Feel free to go through our collection and purchase a few things as well. Each book andcd costs 50 cents. The Friends are also selling cloth book bags for $12. Come in and purchase a bag at the adult circulation desk and support your local library. Ask for a Friends brochure at the circulation desks. Annual membership fees are very reasonable. Come be a part of a group that helps the library.
